Following further government and DfE guidance, the Academy will not open to pupils until at least the 8th of March. Remote learning will therefore continue to be the main avenue to continue teaching and learning and pupils are advised to follow their normal school timetable where possible. At Castleford Academy, we are using a blend of both live and pre-recorded video lessons for remote learning. All live lessons need to be accessed through pupils' personal TEAMS calendar and pre-recorded remote learning activities will need to be accessed through the Show My Homework platform. Pupils must complete activities set and ensure that this work is submitted back to their teacher in the method requested by their teacher in the live lesson or on Show My Homework.

Y13 Post 16 students make outstanding progress at Castleford Academy!

We are delighted to report that yet again Castleford Academy Y13 students 2018- 2020 achieved fantastic results this year. The record breaking results show an average result of DDD, in Sport, Public Services and Health and Social Care.

Head of Post 16 Kathy Falk exclaimed, “Congratulations to our Year 13 students on their excellent BTEC Level 3 results! We are so very proud of their outstanding hard work and commitment to their studies, both in Post 16 and at home during the past 4 very challenging months. We wish them every success and happiness as they continue their pathways onto university courses, apprenticeships and employment.”

However, these headline figures do not highlight the most important aspect of the results; the progress students make from their starting points.  Based on this measure, the Academy’s Post provision continues to be amongst the highest performing colleges in country. The Headteacher George Panayiotou beamed, “We are very proud of their achievements. Every year the students’ work ethic and determination to succeed increases which has led to such outstanding results. The progress this year made by the students is exceptional. I must also take this opportunity to thank staff for their continued hard work. We wish the students all the best with their next progression into work or further study. Well done!’’
