Virtual Sports Day 2020

Castleford Academy Virtual Sports Day 2020

Sports Day for everyone at Castleford Academy is the highlight of the school year. Our sports day is one of the biggest and best around. It involves a form competition across a range of different sporting activities, culminating in a fun afternoon of relay’s, tug of war and of course, dressing up. Unfortunately, due to school closures, sports day will not be able to take place on Friday 10th July in its usual form. Despite this, we as a PE department still want to provide the sense of occasion in terms of sport and enjoyment. Therefore, we are launching a ‘Virtual Sports Day’, which will run from Monday 6th July to Friday 10th July.

As normal on Sports Day, we will be awarding 2 awards for each year group competition. The ‘Overall Winners’ will be the form with the best average scores across all the events. The ‘Best Supported’ will be the form with the highest participation rate.

Usually Sports Day is only done for Y7-9 students. This year only, we will be extending the opportunity to Year 10 as well!

There are 10 challenges you can do at home and record your score. Please watch the launch video for instructions and demonstrations from your PE staff for each event;

Once you have completed your challenges, you need to record your scores via the following Microsoft Forms link (this link will only be active from Monday 6th to Friday 10th July);

Record your scores here (Mon 6th July to 10th July)

Remember – Please do not cheat! You must have a reliable witness who can verify your scores. Any dubious scores will be queried. You can try the challenges as many times as you like, but you must only submit one set of results.

We hope you all enjoy! Good luck, have a wonderful summer and we look forward to seeing you all in September.
