On Thursday 26th January Google Expeditions visited Castleford Academy. Year 7 and 8 students were invited down to Geography to experience the great outdoors from the comfort of their classroom. The virtual trips took students on an adventure to outer space, looking at Planet Earth from the moon and exploring the first landing on the moon! Students were whisked off to the deep ocean where they swam with sharks, up close and personal.
They balanced on the rim of a volcano and from great heights over Rio's famous harbour. The 360o photographs allowed students to explore hard to get to corners of the world such as Mount Everest and the ancient settlement of Machu Picchu. They witnessed dinosaurs roaming our Planet as asteroids struck and volcanoes erupted before being transported back to outer space, putting the world in which we live, into perspective.
