May I extend a very warm welcome to Castleford Academy.  I hope that as you look through our website it gives you a flavour of the work we do. Castleford Academy is a high achieving and successful Academy. We are extremely proud of the Academy and the high quality of education we provide. We have high expectations and insist on high standards for all students. Students are taught to have an excellent attitude to learning and to behave in a way which shows respect to themselves and others.

The core values of our Academy's ethos are Care, Aspire, Succeed:

Care – At Castleford Academy, we have high expectations of pupil's behaviour.  We expect that our pupil's grow to respect themselves and others, to look for the good in others and to be honest and trustworthy.   We believe that this is essential throughout the school, allowing our focus to be solely on learning and progress. We want to make sure that your child is a happy, confident individual who feels valued so that they can make a positive contribution during their time at secondary school.  Your child will face their most significant physical, mental and social changes of their lives during their time with us.  Our pastoral programme is designed to support pupils and their families with these changes.

Aspire – in a changing world, we have to prepare our pupils to achieve great things and compete locally, regionally, nationally or internationally for the future.  Our curriculum is designed to give pupils the best exposure to learning opportunities both in and outside of school.  As a school, your child will be challenged on an "I can't do it" attitude to encourage a change in mind-set whereby, they learn to think "I cannot do it yet!"  This mind-set will equip pupils well for the challenges they will face in the future by building confidence and raising aspirations.

Succeed – here at the Academy, we work hard to unlock potential and develop talent at all levels of ability to ensure that everyone does their best, and that no child is left behind.  The curriculum ensures that every pupil leaves with excellent levels of literacy and numeracy, essential for everyday life.  We look to find and develop other talents including sporting, artistic, musical, dramatic and technological talents.  We have state of the art facilities to help to achieve fantastic opportunities.

In June 2018 the Academy received a new 'one day inspection' by Ofsted.  The purpose of the inspection was to determine if the academy is continuing to provide a 'good' education.  The inspectors were so pleased with the education the academy provides that they confirmed the 'good' judgment but also recommended that inspectors return to complete a two day (section 5) inspection. This is because inspectors found significant evidence that Castleford Academy may be judged 'Outstanding'.  We are delighted with this response and it confirms all the hard work that our students, staff, parents and governors put in to making Castleford Academy such a fantastic school for the community of Castleford.  We look forward to our pending inspection, which is likely to take place over the next two years, and to potentially achieving 'Outstanding' status.

Please feel free to contact us if you would like to visit the Academy. We look forward to meeting you!
